The British Crown Estate, dating back to 1066, choose Gömböc 1821 as the Environmental Safety Award, founded in 2012. They choose the Gömböc as a symbol of innovation. The serial number of the Gömböc is identical to the year when Michael Faraday invented the electrical motor. The first winner is energy giant E-ON. In the picture, Alastair Dutton, Programme Manager, The Crown Estate, is presenting Gömböc 1821, the RenewableUK and The Crown Estate Renewable Energy, Health & Safety Award to Vaughan Weighill, Development Manager (Offshore Wind), E.ON Climate & Renewables for their shallow gas case study at the Rampion offshore project.
