In 2007, a series of individual Gömböc models has been launched. These models carry a unique number N in the range 1 ≤ N ≤ Y where Y denotes the current year. Each number is produced only once, however, the order of production is not according to N, rather, at request.

The first models were printed by rapid prototyping, with the serial number appearing inside. As of 2009 all individual models are manufactured by Numerical control (CNC) machining. Individual tools are produced for each Gömböc piece, and these are subsequently discarded.

The first individual numbered Gömböc model (Gömböc 001) was presented by Domokos and Várkonyi as a gift to Vladimir Igorevich Arnold (who inspired the Gömböc), on the occasion of his 70th birthday in August 2007.

Professor Arnold later on donated Gömböc 001 to the Steklov Institute of Mathematics where it is on exhibit.

Since then, numerous Gömböc pieces are exhibited worldwide at renowned institutions (universities, museums). The majority of these models reached their destination by the sponsored donation program.
