Uppsala University, founded in 1477, is the oldest operating university in Sweden and in the Nordic countries. Ranked consistently in the top 100 worldwide, it is regarded as one of the country’s and the region’s leading institution in higher education. The University decided to put the individual Gömböc 1477, carrying its year of foundation, on permanent exhibit at the Department of Mathematics, located in the Ångström Laboratory
Gömböc 1477 was presented by Her Excellency Adrien Müller, ambassador of Hungary in Stockholm (middle in top picture), to Vice-Rector Professor Johan Tysk (left in top picture) and Dr. Georgios D. Rizell, chairman of the Mathematics Department (on the right in top picture). At the event, organized by the Department, the attendees (among other, about 40 students) had the opportunity to play with Gömböc 1477.
