Founded in 1636 in Boston, Massachusetts, Harvard University has among all universities both the highest number of Nobel Laureates (158) and Fields-Medalists (18) among its alumni, past and current faculty.
Regularly leading rankings, Harvard is a synonym for excellence worldwide. Gömböc 1636, carrying the university’s year of foundation as serial number is on display at the Mathematics Department, located in the building of the Science Center.
The chairman’s office hosts, besides a bust of Oscar Zariski, a collection of mathematical models
occasionally studied by the current chairman, Fields-medalist Curtis T. McMullen.
