University College London, founded in 1826 and consistently ranked among the world’s top 10 universities, decided to put on permanent exhibit the individual Gömböc 1826, carrying the year of foundation of the university.
The showcase of Gömböc 1826 is at the Department of Mathematics, currently located at the corner of Gower street and Gordon Street. The Department will shortly move to a new location where they plan to install a new showcase for the Gömböc.
Gömböc 1826 was transported to London by diplomatic courier and presented to department head professor Helen Wilson by H.E. Ferenc Kumin, ambassador of Hungary in London. Although the size of the ceremony was restricted by COVID, several people attended, including professors Christian Boehmer and Steve Bishop, as well as several students.
