ETH Zürich, one of the world’s most famous schools, decided to add to its collections Gömböc 1854, carrying the year of foundation of the university.
The renowned institution decided in 2019 to create the Collection of Scientific Instruments and Teaching Aids with the goal to organize, revive and complement the highly valuable holdings of the individual departments. Currently the organization of the collected objects has made substantial progress and the public display for the collection is being planned. Our picture below shows Gömböc 1854 in the company of some of the famous Shilling models, also part of the Collection.
Gömböc 1854 was received by the Curator of the Collection, Dr Dorothea Zimmermann (see picture below) and ETHZ published a news article on its website.
The production of Gömböc 1854 (90mm tall, made of AlMgSi-alloy) was supported by Mr Ottó Albrecht.
