The University of Vigo is the most significant engineering school in Galicia and it is ranked among the top 10 engineering schools in Spain.
After conducting successful joint reserach with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics on the equilibria of precariously balanced granite boulders (also called rocking stones), the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Engineering decided to put a Gömböc model on public exhibit.
The poster accompanying the Gömböc and explaining its connection to mechanical equilibrium was prepared by and Dr. José Santiago Pozo Antonio (upper picture) and Dr. Ignacio Perez Rey, both part of the faculty of the University. The appearence of the Gömböc in Vigo was supported by Mr Ottó Albrecht.
